TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

Remaining names that I like or are intriguing: Niederreiter, Milano, and a couple nobody has mentioned, Heinen and Rask.

Surprised to see Bergeron still unsigned. I wonder, is he actually in play?

Bergeron committed verbally to the Bruins. He's not going anywhere.

I like Nederreiter for the Leafs, brings an edge to his game.

Having a discussion with a friend who is telling me in earnest that the Leafs D is doesn't crack the top half of the league.

Curious as to where others rank the current Leafs D. I said it was top-10ish. Am I out to lunch here?

Missing a true horse of a #1 that only a few teams have. If you ignore this and pretend it doesn't matter, from 1 to 6 their d is the best in the NHL.

But it does matter of course. I don't know how to weigh it, but I'd be surprised if they were outside the top 5.

We've never really recovered from the Leafs D is bad narrative.

Which is weird because all the guys from the "Leafs D is bad" teams are with other teams and are good apparently.

And up front it may be the opposite. Very top heavy, with their middle sixers being somewhat of a question mark for now. But even then, the depth guys are probably gonna be no worse than average. I mean 115+ point teams with weak goaltending don't really have weaknesses on D or F...

Only teams I came up with that were better (or had an argument for being equal/better), were Blues, Preds, Wild, Avs, maybe Lightning, maybe Rangers.

I think part of the Leafs goaltending problem might be stylistic in nature. However, that being said I don’t think anybody could say that it’s not our weakest link as of now.

The numbers seem to say that playing in net for the Leafs should be one of the cushiest jobs in the league - if you have the ability to make routine saves you should rack up the wins.

with spezza gone, do we have anyone good that can win draws that are strong on the right side? Liked how before we could get whistles and generally know we could get possession back on the face off after slowing things down
