TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

Calgary is going to trade tkchuck before the season starts.
Nylander for the misery child. One player who is very talented but extremely selfish for another player that is not as talented but has a purpose out there and maybe a better fit.
Nylander and Muzzin going the other way for tkchuck and a draft choice.
Matthew's and Marner on a line and Tavares and tkchuck for the other line.

I know Jarny may have been brought in to be a center but Engvall-Kampf-Jarnkrok would be a pretty crazy awesome defensive 3rd line I think. And then if they can load the 4th line with scorers that would be cool too. They'll have options I guess.

Is Krok really good defensively?

I think he's ok just ok at everything.

In truth he's prolly a better fit centering Robertson on the "4th" line to eat up shitty matchups as a way to get Robertson's feet wet and build his confidence. Having an all-defense line and an all-offence line in the bottom 6 would be nice. Less useless intangibles/unplayable 4th lines please.

Yeah, I see Jarnkrok more as insurance against having an unplayable 4th line again rather than someone we should expect to play up the lineup in heavies.

I’m all for that. I’ve hated our 4th line for years. I can’t even remember who was on it anymore, but I recall liking the speed/energy of the 4th line that we had in the early Babcock years. Timashov maybe and whoever else those guys were. Then someone convinced them that shitty washed up vets like Clifford and Simmonds were the way to go. File those deals in the 2% of things lof and Dubie don’t agree on.

Pretty sure Jarnkrok has been historically solid defensively and mediocre offensively in non-sheltered minutes.

last year he just sucked all around.

He honestly looked awesome in his highlight reel from last year. I was shocked. So I don’t know what he was doing when he wasn’t getting those 26 points or whatever, but I kinda have some hope for him to be pretty decent offensively with better players around him.

Well that’s the other thing, he played most of his career for pro defense/offense bad Nashville and played for the worst coach in hockey last year, so who knows how his numbers will balance out in the leafs system

It’s probably more accurate to say he impacts the game positively, and scores at a good third line rate, in non-sheltered minutes.

For $2m, that’s a bargain then.

He should be the teams new, cheaper Kerf for the next few years as someone who produces fine enough offensively and is not necessarily great at anything in particular. At his AAV I can deal with a guy like that. Hopefully he doesn't fall off a cliff... His age suggests he might!

I was thinking the same thing re: kerfoot. Jarnkrok seems to be similar in his ability to just limit chances at both ends of the ice when he's on. Much prefer that out of a 4th line centre than a 2LW
