TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

seems like Robertson becoming a thing is getting more important. we kinda need him. we could move Kerfoot and have hopefully only a slight decline in points. If he can't make the team this season, when a cheap scoring player at the exact position he plays is a need, that would be extremely disappointing.

We need to commit to giving him the opportunity and not expect him to look better than a bunch of NHL veterans out of the box. We know what Kerfoot can do in the 2LW, ride coat tails and put up some assists (with grim underlying numbers). Just let Robertson ride in that 2LW role for 40 games, upgrade at the deadline if you need to.

but coaches coach period by period, so he can't be a passenger for too many games without Keefe pulling the plug
 
This is the way, and Keefe has proven that Robertson will not make this team in anything other than an offensive role. Riding 2LW with Tavares will be his dojo.
 
Part of the entire team building philosophy of locking up your elite players to big money and not really having a middle class is that you need to draft well and take advantage of some of these kids on ELCs. And I’m not saying rush them but if you’re kinda losing the advantage of drafting well if you don’t see what you’ve got there for cheaper so at a certain point… run em.

Does this mean he's not a 200 foot player? Is that why he's not up yet?
 
Makes sense if they only see him in a top six role. Kinda points to defensive concerns by the organization.
 
Took him until age 22.

Caufield finally stuck on the worst team in hockey this year a year older than Nick....though it was pretty touch and go there for a a while and he would have been demoted on most any other team.
 
It’s not an excuse, it’s literally just a normal player development timeline which seems to completely go out the window for Leafs prospects.
 
Yeah, last year our 4th line wingers were Spezza and Kase. Its a hard team to make. He'd make the majority of teams in the NHL.

Sandin is having trouble cracking the top 6 and he was amazing when in the linuep.
 
Man, I didn’t actually realize how well Nick’s numbers since being drafted hold up to what Kadri’s were. Certainly a reminder patience is needed.
 
Would be awfully nice for Robertson and one more guy to surprise at camp. We could use more offensive depth.

Still kinda surprised we haven’t made a move yet. I wonder if we wait to see how training camp shakes out. See if an injury happens that gives us some cap flexibility. Like maybe Murray goes on LTIR.
