IMO we were sold a bill of goods that went rotten long ago. No need to be despondent over it, its what society does to the masses, it lies mercilessly.

So if the forwards remain as is, the easiest/safest option would be to keep the top-9 the same with Jarnkrok simply replacing Mikheyev, and then the 4th line would be Kubel + KIDS/gaudette/malgin/simmonds/clifford.

The simplest:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok
(Steeves - Holmberg - Aubel?)
(Robertson - Abbruzzese - Simmonds?)
(Clifford - Gaudette - Malgin?)

But you could easily flip Engvall or Jarnkrok with Kerfoot - i wouldn't mind seeing Engvall get a real chance on that second line, giving the line more forechecking and territorial presence.

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Engvall - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Jarnkrok
(Steeves - Holmberg - Aubel?)
(Robertson - Abbruzzese - Simmonds?)
(Clifford - Gaudette - Malgin?)

But then maybe you want to give Robertson a real shot with some guys who can produce offense, but maybe not on a line that needs a ton of responsibility, so maybe you go:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Engvall - Tavares - Nylander
Robertson - Jarnkrok - Kerfoot
XXXXXX - Kampf - Kubel

Though im sure they want to keep giving Kampf the toughs so they'd have to be comfortable with Kubel and other guys with being used in tough matchups too and I'm not sure they'd want to do that.


So yeah maybe i'd be leaning towards:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Engvall - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Steeves - Holmberg - Kubel
(Robertson - Abruzzese - Simmonds)
