Welcome to the Montreal Canadiens, David Reinbacher

Yes, your post about captures my feelings this morning.

Before I signed on this morning, I was thinking that there may an even darker period in Habs history looming ahead. How sad is that?

I was among the biggest critics of Bergevin, but at least he had the sense to draft Caufield.

This management team is now on the clock. My clock anyway.
CC went mid first not 5 , huge difference

They never said they're building through the draft. They said they're looking for age specific NHL ready players.

This is a retool.
Its a gut job on second base , 3/4 of the finals team is aleady or soon to be gonzo

So. What spectacular superstar led the Golden Showers to win the cup?
Peter Anglo?
Who?
That team is heavy or plays heavy.
Habs look like a team being built on ‘fit’ first and foremost.
Businesses that hire for culture over talent outperform the market. This is well known in HR and management worlds. The data is clear.
I think every decision with the team is being based on fit.

That is recency bias.

Only 3 teams in the last 20 years have pulled that off.

Pietro is a 1D
Eichel is a 1C .....He was outstanding

Marchy, Stone, Stephenson, Barbashev, Karlsson, Smith all played very well

Big tough D , and a goalie who though he was Roy for a month

Team was willing to pay the price

I am not necessarily talking about this place.

But this fanbase has more drama queens than any other. The reaction to the pick is like the Price pick in 2005....because they didn't pick Gilbert Brule. Bunch of animals.

Yes they went for the safer pick but they also have boom or bust D prospects in Mailloux and Hutson. BUT BUT we need forwards...

I turned my phone off at 8 pm....I dont think I want to even talk to some of my mates. With Covid denial posts on fb, the anti vax rhetoric, and now this, I can't unsee what I have seen.
I didn't know you were friends with Count.

Problem with your HR theory.

Agents.

And stupid players. Professional sports is a different animal

Don't recall much clamoring here for Gilbert Brule. Maybe.

The fact they couldn't watch MM in person, either in the KHL nor in international tournaments, played a factor in their decision, and may have been the determining one. Hopefully they took Reinbacher, not by default, but because they have extra scouting/analytics info that we don't have that says he's a future first unit D.
Do they not have any intelligence they could trust that could have reported on Michkov? Was it really necessary to be sitting in the seats?Players were drafted all the time from behind the iron curtain, or in the days when regular travel was not always practical.

Following that line of thinking, maybe we should go back to drafting players within a 60 minute drive from Montreal, like we did that year we picked a bunch of Corey Urquharts etc.

Or he'll be a cornerstone of our defense for the next 15 years and people will be praising this pick for a long time. Who knows.
Yeah, it's not like this was going off the board. Literally the only player that was available who most people thought was clearly a better player was Michkov and of course there are plenty of questions about him off the ice... And some do question his tools too.

Maybe their Russian specialist guy got shot or ran away or something, who knows.
