A Brief, Exhausting History of Mitt Romney Fighting With Himself About Abortion

http://jezebel.com/5950553/a-brief-exhausting-history-of-mitt-romney-fighting-with-himself-about-abortion

Basically he calls himself pro-life but states "there's no legislation with regards to abortion that I'm familiar with that would become part of my agenda."

Some of the PP info comes along with "acceptance of LGBT" propaganda. That is why those who are religious oppose it. No mother wants her daughter to be blind.......but she may not want her to be told that its okay to be lesbian. You may not agre but this does not alter the right of parents to bring up their child based on their beliefs.

As a libertrian, i can not dictate my values on someone else.

Uh... ? You're saying that we should cut Planning Parenthood, which provides millions of cancer prevention and screening procedures, because Mrs. Jane Republican doesn't want her kid hearing that being gay is OK?

That IS dictating her values on other people.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

my god, what a bunch of parrots you are. its ridiculous, really.

cork has called for the ELIMINATION of our pension. he hasnt called for a trim, for a little readjustment. he has called for their ELIMINATION. the bulk of the savings that drummond is calling for from education is in axing FDK and smaller class sizes. the other stuff is gravy. and he calls for a reduction of gov't contributions to pensions, not the ELIMINATION of our pension. whats sickening is someone in the financial industry blaming teachers' pensions for the current economic mess we find ourselves in.

Of course i rather see more science programming. You are talking to a guy that goes out of his way to find it.

But......

It does not negate my two principles. Government should not be in the media in any form. If you cut, everything is on the table. If i was king, l would hang the makers of half the programming....and resurect Carl Sagen. But im not....and fundamantal over heart strings......

See, that's kind of the problem with having "principles" like that. Whenever you're so locked into an idea that no information, regardless of the quality and importance of that information, can shake you from your principle....well, that's just a plain stupid and dangerous way to view the world.

If the world is made better by science programming, and the private sector is too busy selling Snooki to fist pumping mouth breathers with orange skin to be bothered with creating science programming, I have zero problem with the government stepping in and making that service possible.

Fundamentalism, regardless of the stripe, is inherently dangerous.

I've called for pension reform. No guarantees, higher personal contributions.

Maybe once or twice I make comments like "we shouldn't pay for your pension" and you seize on it as if ELIMINATION is the crux of my argument.

What a sad little man you are.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Oh. And why can't you save for your own pension? Not capable? Or is teaching so special that you shouldn't have to concern yourself with something like retirement...just live off the state.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

i DO save for my own pension. i contribute thousands of dollars a year to my pension. i try to top it up with some more savings of my own. i make no apologies for the compensation package that has been negotiated on my behalf over the past several decades. tradeoffs were made. part of my compensation package includes a pension. deal with it.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

You didn't trade much off, your salary for 10 months is above average for sure, and you get a gold plated pension. Just admit you suck on the public tit while bemoaning others that receive subsidies, govt grants etc and people will stop harassing you. Difference again of course is that while you say you contribute thousands, you also get matched by employer. Even if Cork and I put the same amount in as you, we don't get matched and we face the risk of it all disappearing. You have no risk of not having a pension, worst you get is that it isn't indexed.

That's basically the fundamental divide between Dems and GOP. The latter group believes the government should only step in for essential infrastructure (national defense, court of law, etc). Dems want to make lives better where it makes sense to do so. I see that split continuing for a long time.

There are already 1000's and 1000's of unwanted children in the foster system. Those couples should be queing up to get ahold of those kids. Killing a child that's defenseless is debate that's been rehashed in here a million times so I'm going to avoid it. But I think even if you reform the adoptions system, including allowing gay couples to adopt, you're still going to have scores and scores of unwated kids. I'm not sure how that benefits anyone.

People are wary to adopt children past on in formative years. Infant adoptions are the highest and the supply is the lowest.

I'm not sure I could abort if I were a female and am glad your daughter didn't abort your grandchild. However, even as you said, it was her choice. I don't think I should impose my views on another when I don't have to raise the child.

I was prepared to raise my grandkid.

Even back in 1994, he was pro-Roe v. Wade. At least for a week...

I was prepared to raise my grandkid.

You might have been prepared to do so, but you would never have been forced, although I guess Mrs Habsy could have forced you by withdrawing privileges until you agreed but that is another issue.

Legally, you had no duty to raise the child.

Did anyone catch the double profile on Obama/Romney on PBS? It was pretty funny to see the contrast: Obama starting a marijuana club in university, even thanking his drug dealer in his yearbook while Mitt spent his time on campus starting protests to protest the protestors vs the Vietnam War. As an aside, Romney was a cheerleader in High School. So was George W. What is it with these GOP guys?
