If we get the Wright pick (and if they feel he can be a franchise player), then all bets are off. It will be a reload for a chance to compete in 23-24.
He didnt do a full tear down. Zibby and Kreider were held onto while they went out and got Panarin, Trouba, Fox the off season (14 months) after they announced the rebuild. And of course got lucky with ping pong balls two consecutive years. We will not have that kind of luck with te lottery...
My prediction it won't be a complete tear down but I do expect Price to be dealt with retention along with our UFA's to be Chiarot, Wideman, etc.
The team is a mess but I dont know how much of that is the "we lost the Finals" hangover.
Agent wise it would be Hughes. Can't imagine we are woke enough to name a woman as GM (maybe somewhere in the hockey dept, but not as GM).
For me the more interesting hire is the scouting director (probably Daniel Dore).
There is still an Assistant GM, Scouting Director and Comms VP to be hired.
Based on Molson's comments at PC, a full rebuild is on the table. Right time to do it with Shane Wright, Connor Bedard, and that Russian super kid on the map the next three drafts,
Not sure I like this. But I guess this is the cost to do business with players like him.
Caufield will be in the same situation next off-season. If all goes well, we will have our own Bergeron/Pasta $14M combo. Nice way to build a team.
Where is Gallagher? Hoffman, Weber, Byron injured.
Some of these young guys have roster spots that can be had (or more ice time gained). If they don't then we have organizational issues. I am talking Evans, Romanov, Poehling, Norlinder and others who have an outside chance.
Excellent. Found an upgrade on Danault. Probably have enough internal options to slightly better KK and Staal.
The center position is certainly upgraded from years past.
The team's ability to make the playoffs will come down to decent improvements from Suz and Romanov, + Caufield being...
5 goal/20 point players are not worth $4million as early as next year in this market. Sorry. It will take him some time.
And I am not sure the kid has the drive to get better and prove his worth. Time will tell but I just don't like the player. I wished for David Desharnais many time when...
Never say never, but I hope we never match that offer.
KK will take at least 4 years (if he even gets there) to be a $4 million player let alone a $6 million player.
