2019-20 Miscellaneous NHL/Hockey News Thread

Again ... I fail to see the need for drama here. The guy did a mediocre job and who really gives a crap about the specifics? If he walked ... fine. If they fired him because he demanded to look around ten minutes after signing an extension and then tried to weasel out of doing his job, also fine.

Newbie owners, man. There's no PR involved in this crap. Just hire another guy and get on with life.

The NHL has personalized players’ hotel rooms with family pictures. This is from Edmonton, but I’m sure they did it in Toronto too.

Bad news on the broadcasting front. Not only will we miss John Forslund calling Canes games, but it looks like he’s going to have Mike Milbury in the booth with him, with Brian Boucher between the benches. Forslund and Boucher have worked together for several years, even in 2 man games and he took over from McPlankton as the primary ice level guy this season. But Milbury? Gag me with a goalie stick.

Anything that involves Milbury is bad, and the fact that NBA still can't see this after how many ever years is a pretty clear indication of why somebody (anybody) else needs to get the new US TV contract. Please?

Another one.... Forslund says "Screw it, if THAT's who they're going to pair me with for games, I'm going back to the Canes and Tripp...."

Sorry, I'm tryin' here.

NHL using their brains again in allowing the extra forward and DMan for exhibition games. Good thinking!

According to Richard Deitsch in The Athletic, Forslund, Milbury and Boucher are the only NBC broadcasters on-site in Toronto. Doc Emrick will be calling games from his home in Michigan, everyone else will be calling games from NBC Sports studios in Stamford, CT. McPlankton will be on-site in Edmonton. NBC has the world feed from Toronto, Rogers has the world feed from Edmonton.

If you're like me and working from home full-time these days, how great is having a full day of hockey to watch?!

Perfecting timing with the end of the Premier League season...

I just started a new gig and have spent most of the week on Teams calls so I’m being a good boy, for now at least. I did watch some of Lightning/Panthers at lunch, turned it on just in time to see Wallmark turn the puck over at his defensive goal line for Tampa’s first goal.

Which, as it works out, will be back in full swing by the conference finals.

Perfect timing for most, but not for for me personally. I'm in the middle fo a cruise release week (for 2021) so I barely have to time to breathe between now and Saturday
