Trebek was a legend and truly by all accounts a wonderful human being and a huge hockey fan! Big shoes to fill for sure, but a guy like Ken Jennings seems like a nice fit for a transition. For the record...cancer truly sucks!

Any game shows hosted by a woman now? Not counting Judge Judy. :) Would not surprise me if they hired a woman . I think Jennings is probably front runner. He will probably work cheap compared to others.

Alex Trebek said the Kings TV play by play guy Alex Faust would be a good Jeopardy host. He's 31 and Kings hired him 3 years ago. Guess we will find out soon who gets the job. It pays very well and they don't work every week. I think they shoot 5 episodes a day 2 days in a row. Lots of time off .
We probably won't find out until they air the final show that Trebek taped, and I think that's going to be around Christmas. And like Andy, my money is on Ken Jennings. He taped a bunch of video clues this season and was hired as a full time consulting producer. I read when that was announced that they wanted him to work with the new clue writing staff to get more of a classic feel to the clues, since the last season strayed off the path a bit, which led to some really sluggish episodes and irregular outcomes. Jeopardy's long time clue coordinator retired in 2018 (along with their longest serving director) and since then things have been a bit weird ... and not just because Trebek had been sick. The clues themselves were the biggest culprit, IMO. Too cute, too jokey, too scared to just be traditional Jeopardy material.

Ron Burgundy would be great as host, especially with his catch phrase "I don't believe you" after a contestant provides an answer!

Jennings is certainly smart enough, associated with the Jeopardy brand, and likely willing and honored to follow the legend. Remains to be seen if he can do the "host" thing though... my wife watches him on the Master Minds show on GSN where he's the featured expert panelist (treated almost like a co-host) and she isn't impressed; she gave me a look that cannot be described when I said he might take over Jeopardy.

I think they can announce the new host any time after Trebek's funeral. They can do practice games to try out Jennings or anyone else. Networks do that for sports announcers - they roll a game tape and listen to what the guys says and how he says it. Like a screen test

One other thing ... I think you can discount any names floated by Trebek over the years. He rather famously said that he had, and wanted to have no input on his successor. He was a nice interview and people kept hectoring him so sometimes he'd blurt out a name, but that doesn't mean anything. So ... people throwing out Betty White (she'd be awesome, but get serious ... the woman isn't actually eternal) and George Stephanopolous (sp?) and anybody else he's suggested over the years that might be be good is kind of missing the point.

That said ... Patton Oswalt or we riot

Yes. Elizabeth Banks, Ellen DeGeneres, Leslie Jones and Jane Lynch all host shows. I think Banks and DeGeneres produce their shows, so they have an in.

Elizabeth Banks, Ellen DeGeneres, Leslie Jones and Jane Lynch don't host daily game shows do they ? Ellen has a daily talk show now so I don't she wants another show unless she quits the talk show. . The others could take over Jeopardy but I doubt any of them get the job. Drew Carey has the price is right so he might want a change of pace.
