Caps might be interested in Reimer and who do they have to trade that Canes might want? Might depend on if Canes and Caps are in the same division.

The Caps are already over the cap, losing Hank’s salary gets them below. The have Pheonix Copley cooling his heels in Hershey, it wouldn’t surprise me if he and Samsonov were the goalies on their roster. They also brought Vitek Vanacek into the playoff bubble, he and Copley were the goalies in Hershey. He was the MVP of the 2020 AHL All-Star game. But that’s a pretty inexperienced group, between them Samsonov and Copley have played 55 NHL games, Vanacek has yet to play.

Considering that Washington killed a deal with Carolina for Grubauer at the last second a couple of years ago, I don't really care what they might be interested in. First round pick and your best prospect ... or better yet, go find another goalie.

Panthers sign Anthony Duclair to a 1 year/$1.7 million contract. He made $1.65 million with Ottawa last year and had 23 goals, 17 assists in 66 games.

Emily Kaplan on espn.com rehashes most of what Sportsnet already reported but adds that San Jose is looking at conducting training camp in Scottsdale, AZ since Santa Clara County has shut down all contact sports, which also forced the San Francisco 49ers to relocate.

The Sharks more than likely won't be the only ones facing these issues. I love the money quote "The NHL has vowed to remain nimble as it looks to award a Stanley Cup before the Tokyo Olympics in July 2021." Remain ... sure. If there's one word I have always used to describe the NHL league offices, it's 100% always been "nimble." That's sarcasm, for the record. "Inept" is the correct word.

LeBrun says an Canadian hub city has emerged as a potential option for the Canadian division.

LeBrun says the league and PA have reached an agreement, pending votes from each side. The league has scheduled a Board of Governors call/vote for the weekend. The PA had an executive board call scheduled for 8 pm tonight.

Frank Seravalli says camps open January 3. The teams who missed the playoffs can start on December 30.

Seravalli says teams will be allowed to travel with 29 man rosters, the 4 - 6 man “taxi squad” will be paid AHL salaries. Only the base roster will count toward the cap. And the CBA has been expanded to allow more flexible emergency recalls.

I also saw last night where the top 4 in each division will make the playoffs. That guarantees a Canadian team in the “Conference Finals”.

Yeah ... at this point I'm just waiting for them to announce a final, official plan and we'll see what that actually looks like. No shade towards guys like Pierre and Frank who have busted their butts trying to report on what amounts to shifting sand, but call me when this is 100% done.

According to LeBrun and McKenzie, we have a league schedule.

Puck drop: Jan. 13
Trade deadline: April 12
End of reg season: May 8
Stanley Cup awarded: no later than July 15
Expansion draft: July 21
NHL draft: July 23-24
Free-agent Frenzy: July 28

Did you seriously just retype what was in the tweet? Gotta chuckle out of that one.

Type? No, except the Cup finals part. Copy and paste? Yes. I don’t know how tweets show up on various platforms or if people need access to Twitter to view the link.

Elliotte Friedman as a couple other things. Training camp will be limited to 36 skaters but unlimited goalies. With the expanded roster, teams must carry at least 3 goalies between the active roster and taxi squad. The reduced schedule means the entry level slide is reduced from 10 to 7 games. NMCs are extended to the end of the season for expansion draft purposes.
