2022-23 Canes Misc. Thread

Games 1 and 2 will be Wednesday and Friday, times and broadcaster TBD.

This has been running around Twitter since last night. With the Avs and Bruins eliminated, the Canes are the most recent Cup winners still alive. And only the Canes and Devils have won it this century.
This year has really been a changing of the guard in the East, with the Pens and Caps not getting in, TB and the Bs bowing out early and their cap situations looking bleak, and TO actually advancing. But of course, then there’s Buffalo.

Honestly ... Buffalo is about one solid part away from being pretty freaking good. They certainly leapfrogged Detroit on the rebuild ladder.

Boston just got away with an absolute magic trick this year. They weirdly delayed the age curve by getting even older (Krejci made HUGE difference for zero acquisition cost), got a great bounce out of changing coaches and managed to hit two goalies having career years at the same time. That kind of convergence is the stuff of myths and legends, but it doesn't tend to hold up in the playoffs. Still didn't think Bob was gonna be the goalie holding the dagger when they went out, but such is life. Turns out he's only worth his $10 million cap hit when he starting an elimination game against a President's Trophy winner.

The Bruins are in massive trouble capwise. They are going to have to cover the performace bonuses for Bergeron and Krejci on next year's cap. They are going to be sitting with somewhere around $7 million in cap space to fit in 6 forwards and a backup goalie. Hard decisions and lots of moves to be made.

Yup. They knew that going in. This was the last big swing at the Cup and they played every card in the deck, including borrowing from Peter to pay Paul ... and eventually failed ... again. Delicious, honestly. Couldn't happen to a more deserving organization and fan base.

The full 2nd round schedule will be released tomorrow. But game 1 on Wednesday is 7:00 on ESPN. Game 2 is TBD.

Huala was brutal for the most part as a Hurricane and the team said go pound sand, his pouting towards the org speaks volumes about his play here, he knows it!

Drunken fans don’t take cheap shots on players that can potentially injure them. Haula does. Especially against the canes.
Meh. He's not a real threat to do anything other than be a general annoyance. He's taken runs at guys in the past but so have a lot of guys. He's a heck of a lot less likely to injure somebody than a guy like Trouba.
