2023-24 Canes Misc Thread

With 4 days until the next game, the Canes assigned Ponomarev to Chicago. The Canes are only practicing on Monday and Wednesday this week, so he won’t be missing much be being there. And Noesen should be over whatever it is that’s bothering him, as long as it doesn’t run through the team.

Noesen clearly didn't have his stamina back last night, but he played well. Whatever he had couldn't have been too terrible. Ponomarov was pretty pedestrian last night after looking frisky and sharp in DC. So, about the norm for rookies. The way Carolina uses their 4th line, he would fit in pretty well long term should the need arise.

Fast is practicing in a yellow jersey today. They’re taking tomorrow off and will be back on the ice on Wednesday, so we’ll see. Necas, Slavin, Aho and Burns are not practicing, hopefully just a maintenance day for the latter 3.

RBA said that those not present at practice had a maintenance day. That included Necas, so he could be back on Thursday.

Lines at practice this morning. Necas skated with Jeff Daniels before it started, so I’d say he’s out for tomorrow. Good to see Fast back, he was in a regular jersey.

Fanatics bought Aussie founded PointBet in the spring of last year, specifically to chase secondary market sports books as the markets opened up in the US. So it's really just their branding involved ... the guts of the operation will be run by people who actually seem to know what they're doing. Not that I care, personally ... but it would be good for the franchise if their sports book partner was stable and effective.

It’s official, the Canes have partnered with Fanatics Betting & Gaming for the PNC Arena sportsbook and online betting. For those who will partake, I hope their gambling operations work better than their jersey manufacturing.

WRAL posted a relatively in-depth story about this yesterday...
