Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Yup. Florida needs one point and they're in. Islanders & Pittsburgh both need to win out & Florida to lose for them to make it.

If Florida gets one point, they're in. In that scenario, Pittsburgh has the tie-breaker over the Islanders should both teams win out.

Penguins play Chicago and Columbus, should be two easy wins. Panthers have a more difficult game against the Mole but are at home.

The Panthers only have one game left and it will probably be a huge one for Carolina. Not a gimme at all for them.

We got fucked out of.a second lottery pick and winning too much fucked us out.of Bedard and probably Fantilli too.

Wasted season. They didn't properly commit to the tank.

You realize that without the injuries, we're probably drafting around 13, not 5-7? There will be excellent players available where we pick.

Yeah especially if Monahan stayed healthy. The lines slotted correctly and they were a 500 team.

Still, the wins against the Leafs and Oilers did them in.

Yep. Geoff needed to hire a hit man to break the legs of the few remaining healthy players on our roster. He balked at paying the going rate (inflation everywhere) — not sure I can forgive his cheapness and lack of commitment to getting Bedard.

He should have let Ducharme coach one more year.

I can vouch for this, he wouldn't pay going rates and Theo Spiros said no.

At the end of the day, not like we were trying to win, the players just worked their tails off. As Nikita wrote above, if Dach, Monahan, Cole and Anderson don't get hurt like they were, we probably have 5-7 more wins this year. The guys we called up saw it as a chance to prove and I loved watching RHP, Belzile, work their butts off to show their worth.

Bedard will probably be a great NHL player but McDavid level and impact he will not be/have.
I used to be of the same opinion but I’m not so sure now. I think he’s generational and it will be fun to watch him challenge McDavid for scoring titles.

will be hard to do so in Columbus,,,

Anaheim is the best spot for him, he can finally go to Disneyland (he wouldn't let his parents take him because he would miss hockey).
