New Canadian Politics Thread

Well I can honestly say that heaven and hell have moved because I will be fully supporting the NDP or maybe Green party lol

I certainly understand your decision. I have pretty much decided to vote for the party I vowed I would never vote for again. I’ll hold my nose cast my vote for the local NDP candidate. In my riding there are only two candidates with any chance of winning. The Liberals or the NDP.

Cant stand trudeau, and Scheer .... where the hell did they find baby bubba scheer and his circus sideshow?
I have always been a huge C conservative
But now, I wouldnt let Scheer look after my crops or animals.
I hope that Bernier has a melt down during the debates and beats the shit out of Trudeau and scheer.
So a question for those of you who frequent this site ...... who out there in this country would make a great leader and could start a party that can over come all the present party crap and be trusted?
I thought Singh could be that person but I was wrong.

I'd imagine a large pct of the Liberals are basically biding their time for Chrystia Freeland to take over as the next Liberal Leader. Whether you believe she's the true saviour, I have no clue.

The CPC I don't follow as closely. I don't know who they have from the less crazy side of their party that might be a good leader. Elliott obviously made it pretty far in the Ontario PC leadership, and Mulroney was the 3rd candidate there, although I think a lot of the more progressive side of the party doesn't like how they've been seemingly happy to follow Ford.

I mean, in the current system, we're basically stuck with the big parties, so your best hope is that one of them will find a good leader you can trust and they can get a little mini-dynasty going with good policies for an election cycle or two, before someone you can trust on the other side takes over.

Problem with the CPC is that it's 2 parties. It's the Reform Party and the Ontario Conservatives, federal branch. The Reform Party is the bigger of the factions and will continue pumping one of their western conservatives into the leadership role because if they don't, you'll quickly see splintering of their western base and another challenger will be born. They were able to sort out the Wildrose party provincially by swinging hard to the right on social issues because they wanted their unopposed political dynasty back in Alberta.

Shit the PPC might already be that challenger if my facebook feed is any indicator. A lot of heavy pro gun stuff the last few weeks that is coming from Bernier supporters.

To run in Quebec, you might need to keep the whiteface on during the campaign.

These kind of stories drive me a bit nuts. The issue they focus on is the tendering process and whether the supplier sold these armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia. At no point does it even pause to ponder why police want armoured vehicles, particularly in a city of fewer than 1 million people.

This is part of a long and alarming trend over the past two decades involving the militarization of police forces across North America.

I would rather police forces have these vehicles than end up dead when responding to a live shooting event.

Lets face facts, it's not the police driving the arms race on the streets, a lot of gangs are upping their firepower to battle each other, the police simply need to keep up. Otherwise they are showing up to these shootings under protected and or outgunned.

That's what they claim when they lobby hard for their militarization.

Gangs and shootings are a big problem in Halifax, don't you know?
