No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

the goalie play was great.

Tanev move was solid.

OEL....i swing between steal and blunder on this one most every game.

smaller pickups are also looking very good i.e. Lorentz & Myers & Patches & Mermis.

Tre has been better at money balling than Dubas. The roster is as good now as it has ever been because of that, and its come at a reasonable/no cost.

He hasn't had the big balls Duabs did though. Muzz, McCabe, ROR, Tavares. There hasn't any big swing yet from Tre to put this team over the top.

Tre has also had the luxury of a rising cap that actually gave him space to go shopping on July 1st.

Was Tre not getting Tanev last year, knowing he was going to go after him as a FA a "blunder".

nerds: +0.5 DOM, 0.27 xGAR/60

Rielly ($7.5 mill)

It's kind of funny how much of the team's poor nerdies can be pinned on it's second most used d pairing (Benoit-Timmins) putting up a godawful 38.2xgf%.

D Pairings xGF% in order of TOI. The cutoff on EH is 30min but i dropped it down to get those two 29min Benoit pairings in there too. After that there's a big dropoff to about 20min for the next pairings.

So only one Benoit pairing has been better than an horrific 42xgf% - that's his lowest minute pairing with Rielly....which hasn't ever actually been a pairing and is only a collection of odd ends of shifts together.

Meanwhile only one non-Benoit pairing has been anywhere remotely close to all the Benoit pairings, and that's 38min worth of Rielly and McCabe together, which also hasn't really ever been a pairing and is pretty much all just odd ends of shifts together too. Otherwise the worst non-Benoit pairing is OEL-McCabe at a mediocre 49.2xgf%, with every other pairing well above 50%.

It's pretty crazy tbh.

jeeez, that's brutal (for Benoit)

I did read in the Athletic that he has a newborn this year, and was struggling to manage that. but regardless, he should ride the pine for a stretch.
