OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

Brantley would be a fine DH/OF. Conforto would be intriguing as well.

Kiermaier as the Zimmer, Bradley replacement is fine. Anything more than that and this is a wet fart of a move.

33 year old Kiermeier after hip surgery. As a 4th OFer I’m ok with it. Really need to bring in that offensive replacement for Teo. If this is as a fulltime starter then I want to puke.

Besides the lack of power what is there not to like about Benintendi? Good on base skills, decent walk rate, low K rate. Probably an upgrade defensively on Teo. He’s still youngish at 28. Doesn’t cost us a top prospect. Isn’t coming off a missed year like Conforto/Nimmo or doesn’t have injury concerns like Brantley.

Kiermaier is Zimmer-level D with a Tapia-level bat. Acceptable as the primary CF as long as he is nailed to the bench every time they face a semi-decent LHP.

IMO, we don’t need to think in terms of a Teoscar replacement vs Tapia replacement etc. Bigger picture, Springer is now the primary RF. That’s good. Kiermaier is weak overall as an everyday CF, but luckily Springer can also play there when Kiermaier sits. Gurriel is a decent starting LF but not very durable so he is going to miss a bunch of games. They need one more solid bat-first OF. Brantley, Conforto, Benintendi, there are a few decent options.

Benintendi's a good player and shouldn't be excluded from the list, but certainly would prefer Conforto, Reynolds or Brantley.

Dunno if I'd call him good. He's been good twice in his career.

Decent bet for 2 WAR but I would have preferred to have kept the 3-4 WAR guy we had unless Benintendi comes abnormally cheap.

Yup. Kiermeier you hope can play 120ish games and give you D in CF. Springer should fill a lot more time in RF.

Ideally you can add a bat-first lefty so that Gurriel doesn't have to start vsR if you don't want. Or even so you can pinch hit for KK late in the game. I don't mind Biggio/Merrifield being essentially the #5 OF. But you definitely need one more guy. And you could even still aim for someone who can play full time, since I don't mind treating Kiermeier and Gurriel as platoon bats.

Its probably smart to sign Kiermaier first as the CF options behind him are so very grim, and there are at least 4 LH corner OF bats we should look at

Conforto should be the top choice, as he's the only one if healthy could be a legit upgrade on Teo, and likely only wants a 1 year deal.

Brantley would be next for me. Probably 1-2 year deal, can still rake and get on base from the left side, offers a dimension of hitting we simply do not have.

Fuck it, i still love Joey Gallo. On a 1 year deal platoon him with Lourdes and hope he can find it again. A dude who i think benefits bigly from the shift ban.

Benintendi is last for me, simply becuse he's probably earned a 4/72 or 5/90 kind of deal, and everything about him is just so mid. All the guys above him are either better, or elite at at least one thing
