OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

The whole point of talking like a lawyer is that you never actually lie. When the Jays don't go into the luxury tax this year, he and Atkins will spin more lawyer talk about assessed risk vs shared risk and the nexus of those two things being the main determinants of acceptable risk and even our FI Lawyers will ask wtf these guys are talking about.
Its not lies, if they know the truth.

Lourdes very much does need to be platooned. If only for his absymal defense but the dude is streaky as shit.

Im optimistic that the shift ban helps gallo and that he re-finds his joy being away from NYY
That’s not what a platoon is. Unless you’re talking about a defensive platoon in which case Gallo is not the guy. Jays need other OF for when Gurriel and Springer inevitably go on the DL. They can’t have another OF that is unplayable against LHP, especially since they have Kiermaier.

Point is, even if Gallo was a good bounce back candidate, and I’m not sure he is, he’s a bad fit for Toronto.

My Pie in the Sky / MLB The Show 23 scenario:

Sign Correa, trade Bo + Salary (Kikuchi) for Acuña, and call it a day

I guess this would all depend on what Dansby Swanson situation is....

Not even in MLB the Show could you get ATL to agree to that trade. I mean, even if the offer was Bo + Vlad, you're not prying Acuna away from them.

That’s a good price and term for Stripling. Compared to 3/63 for Bassit, that looks pretty savvy.

Stripling should do well in SF. Maybe he wanted to go back to California.

Strip hit 130 IP for the first time ever last year, and broke out with a 3 WAR season.

It's completely reasonable to question if he does either again.

I'd have given him this deal all day to be the 5, but when you look at the dollars they Jays have in Berrios, Gausman, Kikuchi and now Bassitt it doesn't really work.

definitely possible they decided to go with Bassitt over Stripling, and also quite possible they made a comparable offer to be the #5 but he preferred to go back to Cali.
