You never know when it works out and when it doesn't. If they stick with Berrios and he gives up 3 straight hits, people would be asking why they kept a splitty pitcher in, why even have Kikuchi on the roster if you don't use him, etc...
Heck, you even get some famous playoff pitching games, like Bumgarner's game 7 where he came in in the 5th inning. In that game they pulled Hudson in the 2nd inning (although he hadn't necessarily been pitching that well). 2016 when cle pulled Bauer in the 5th of game 1 I think had some controversy, going to Miller that early in the game.
Also some people here are talking like Berrios is an ace, while for the past couple years he's been a decent mid-rotation piece, nothing more. Unless if he's throwing a perfect game, he's not facing the other team's lineup a 3rd time in an elimination game. If it was Gausman you're talking about, yeah, that's someone you want to give more leash to. But people here weren't even convinced Berrios would even be one of the WC round starters.
