Patrik Laine

The CLB franchise seemed to be dysfunctional. Apparently it’s a decent city.

That’s the thing, they completely overhauled their management, so he could have gotten a fresh start without renting a U-Haul.

Maybe he got involved in some inter personal entanglements

Something about the locker room apparently.

This deal will end up a similar an anal ream job that was the Lekhonen trade
Unlike Lehkonen, Laine is a Finn who can finish. Guys like Lekky literally grow on trees. You don't need to overpay for them. And when you trade them away you are never getting reamed because they aren't good enough or rare enough to worry about.

The good thing is Hugo can easily pivot if things go sour

Kids trade clauses dont kick in for years and are easily tradeable

Great prospect base create staggered contracts with others
I also think that despite the media fishbowl, Laine is better positioned to rejuvenate his career in Montreal under MSL than anyplace else. At the end of the day, most of that fishbowl is French so if Laine doesn't read or listen to the franco media, he's actually playing in a similar English market as he did in Winnipeg. He only has to deal with Stu Cowan, Arpon Basu, Eric Engels, the clown show at TSN690 and....who? Kenzie Lalonde?
