Why do I get the feeling that his secret identity is Peter Griffin??

Vs Tampa in the playoffs

SV%

NYR - .924
FLA - .897
TOR - .893
Let's look behind the numbers, and at the games that matter for a sec.

Game 6 - Jack with an .886, so YIKES, how do you win with such rotten goaltending??

Well, three seconds before the OT winner, Vasy stood at 30 saves on 33 shots and a .909. Guess who else had the exact same stats? That's right, Jack. 30 saves on 33 shots and a .909 (winning formula!). But then he makes the save on the initial shot, Holl allows Point free access to the rebound, and voila, in those three seconds, suddenly he ends with an .886 because he saved only one of the next two. Doesn't even SV% look fucking idiotic without some context?? And with that context, can anyone reasonably say Jack was a shitty .886 goalie in that game, even with the assraped 5 on 3 and lucky screen shot aside?

Game 7 - Jack with a .920 - pretty damn good?? Except that the Leafs can't beat Vasy more than once on 31 shots, and honestly weren't all that dangerous all game long.

Bad goaltending then?? Was that really our problem? Nick Paul Shmick Snoll. He gave up only two goals whether they were highlight reel Kuchy/Stammer snipes or Mike Smith specials, it doesn't fucking matter. When we needed 3 to win, or even just 2 to tie, we couldn't get it.

How do we leave this series saying goaltending did us in? Especially when TB got the exact same SV% from Vasy? Come now.

Wait a sec you mean to say that that horrific game 6 goaltending performance was actually a .914sv% aside from that goal on that absolute horseshit 2 minute 2 man advantage !?!@?!?!?!?!

I don't know. Apparently, it's too difficult for me to point out that the goalies had the same stats aside from the play that ended the game.

The goalies played the exact same aside from the additional goals the one goalie gave up.
Jesus Christ, it was a one shot differential in their performance. One fucking shot.

So to be parading around SV% as the be all indicator of how things went sour for us, like you did in that post, is completely misleading. The difference between his .886 and Vasy's .909 in that game was one fucking shot.

If you want to say he gave up one extra goal, then fine, he did. But that's no disastrous goaltending performance that makes finding a replacement for Jack our #1 task this summer. Again, goaltending was not our problem.

Are all goals and saves created equal?

Except that I think it's ludicrous to blame him on the tying goal through a screen of ten guys and Cooper's smirk, or to fault him for Holl letting Point just get away and go to the front of the net unimpeded so he can bang in a rebound.

Shersty gives up those two goals all day long.
