TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

In the Hockey News article, it was reported that Leafs never upped their October lowball offer to Jack...and offered Kuemper a long term deal at 6M/year

Oilers had the 12th best goaltending last year. This year they're going with Campbell and Skinner. They've also lost Keith who they used for all the heavies last year and don't have the capspace to bring back all of Pulju Yama and McLeod.

Carolina lost Trocheck, Niederreiter, DeAngelo.

Caps could only add because all of Backstrom, Wilson, and Hagelin will be on LTIR.

It's sad to think they'll miss Keith in the lineup but they will. Who is going to play in those situations?

The Leafs lost a bunch of players too, including two of their top 9 forwards that they haven't replaced yet that scored at 30 and 20 goal paces last year. Plus the perceived trade down in net. Its not a shocker why people are disappointed in Dubas.

Only one of their top 9 forwards actually. (The one who missed half the season).

And then their three 4th liners (who all cost peanuts).

perception =/= reality though.

I get why people are pissed. but offseason is still chugging along and other than the goalie swaps we've mostly nibbled around the edges of the roster.

Colorado is likely to lose their top goalie and 1/3 of their top-6 forwards.

T-Bay has lost a top line forward and top-3 D.

Canes traded Tony, Nino, and Trocheck for Patches and the ghost of Burns.

Florida lost Marchment and whoever else.

I'll be annoyed if Dubie doesn't address the forwards and ideally turf Kerf, but I'm not willing to fully throw him under the bus quite yet.

Yeah I'm all for giving the kids a shot and then adding upgrades at the deadline.

One more versatile 3rd line center type would be nice though.

dubas has been really shit at this the last two years - this is the third season been hoping for a third line C, tho now think it’s 2C that can move JT to wing

Their big offseason move so far was replacing an all-star goalie with a salary dump, that they recieved under value to take on, for one of the worst goalies in the league.

I'm not judging Dubas' offseason yet, but come on. Its pretty obvious why he's getting shit at this point.

Det/Ott have improved and Buff is on the upswing, I don’t know if they’ve improved enough to threaten us , probably not but if they have it won’t be a cakewalk to a playoff spot this year.

It is a different dynamic than last summer tho, where the gap seemingly increased between the haves and the have nots. With many of the "haves" in cap trouble this summer it seems the gap may be tightening a touch.

But Kyle's gotta show some creativity here. I trust he can and he may just do that.. Until he does though, it's fair to be disappointed.
