TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

we need to decide what the 3rd and 4th lines will be projecting forward to the postseason. If we want to use Kampf as 3C, it's going to be an all-defence line. Leafs need more goals from the lower half of their roster when the top guys are getting shut down.

The lines are kinda irrelevant. In terms of EV TOI/G it was

1. Matthews
2. Marner
3. Tavares
4. Willy
5. Bunting
6. Kerfoot
7. Mikky
8. Kampf
9. Kase
10. Engvall
11. Spezza
12. Blackwell

Kase wasn't on the 4th line all year. He fit basically everywhere in the lineup and moved all around, and played as high as LW2 and on PP2, and scored at a 20 goal pace. Thats was a really useful piece. I'm not banking on Steeves or Abruzesse to do that.

I think Robertson can only replace one of Mikheyev/Kase. NAK replaces Spezza. Blackwell hopefully is replaced with a real center, as zeke says.

That means they still need a MIkky/Kase replacement just to be as deep as last year. So that is two forwards to go.

I think most of us are hoping for better than last year though.

I have such a hard time projecting Samsonov to be good when he's been nothing but shit for a long time now. At least Murray was good last year for most of the season. Idc which one is good though.. I'll take just 1 even if the other is a tire fire.

you haven't watched 10,000 hrs of Samsonov tape like the Leafs brass...they will fix him
maybe

Yeah, I've got the opposite. Samsonov functioning as a ~.905 warm body in net and Murray bouncing back.

Someone asked what Murray's numbers look like without those 2 games at the end of his season:

5v5 sv%

At that time (end of February), Jack was 25th with a .918%

Kase played 11:50 per game for 50gms, Engvall 11:45 for 78gms. Engvall (stupidly) started the year on the 4th line while the 2nd and 3rd lines struggled (with Kase being a weak link on that 3rd line), and finally Engvall was moved up to the 3rd line and it started dominating, while Kase ended up on the 4th line in the end.

Also, here's our xGF Relatives for regular forwards:

1. Matthews +8.0
2. Marner +5.8
3. Bunting +4.3
4. Mikheyev +2.4
5. Engvall +1.1
6. Tavares +0.0
7. Nylander +0.0
8. Spezza -2.6
9. Kerfoot -3.3
10. Kampf -3.4
11. Simmonds -4.0
12. Ritchie -5.9
13. Kase -6.1
14. Clifford -9.5
15. Blackwell -11.5

We lost one good forward and a bunch of decent replaceable cheapo 4th liners.
