I honestly think the Leafs improved their tending this year…. But i understand the frustration in Murray’s cost
 
Only difference is Samsonov has never been a good NHLer whereas Murray has Stanley cup rings plugging his ears with 4 elite seasons off the hop. But he was injured and shit in 19-20 and 20-21 and last year he was elite again outside of 2 games.

I still prefer that track record if I'm gonna bet on someone to be competent next year.

well I'd much rather have Samsonov than Mrazek. And I'm not a Campbell fan either. but it's hard to imagine Murray magically going back to his Cup winning form.

Yeah, if it was Murray @ 3m and Samsonov @ 2m, I don't really think we'd even be annoyed tbh. It'd still be a risk but the $ would reflect that.

Yeah, that's where I'm at with it. We have actual upside in net this season (with a large side order of risk). I wanted Murray, but I wanted him with double unicorn retention as our 1B. The reasons I wanted him haven't changed. There's good bounce back potential there.
 
Hoping there's still a chance of doing something creative via trade at F. Moving Kerfoot and Holl and acquiring a guy someone retains on? Not necessarily in the same deal.

I'd assume they trudge along at a similar level....which would give us about the same level of goaltending we got last year overall.

But with both having some upside to break out at a better level than that.

Pretty clear Dubie is working on something. And not just a bargain binner. If it materializes, who knows, but if it does, it's probably soon.

Our scoring depth is by far our weakness despite the top end firepower. And it's been hit by losing Mikky and Kase. Dubie isn't oblivious to this fact, and that he hasn't replaced the scoring yet, means he's still trying to. But I don't think the answer is a $1M lotto guy. Need to free up that $6M and go shopping.
