TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

Kerf's a good player. I like him overall.

But I don't like carrying another pending UFA to the door. He should've had good trade value considering his real money due, and unless we're extending him, which I doubt we are, we should try to get something for him (whether it be picks or a young player who needs a shot) and then signing a Milano or someone to replace him.

true but we'd still have 6 top-4 quality dmen, with a couple nice kids in the AHL to boot.

Forward depth much iffier than dman depth imo.

I think my preference is to keep Holl. The Leafs D is deep at the NHL level, but I'm not sure how much I want to count on guys like Hollowel, Kral, Benn, Mete. I have a lot more faith in Robertson, Anderson, Abruzese, Malgin, Steeves etc. With Holl that D is elite 1 though 7 and has l/r balance.

If you trade Kerf you get much more flexibility. You can sign Sandin to the multi year deal for $2ish that he wants, instead of squeeze him on a one year deal. And you can sign a guy like Milano or Rodriguez and keep Holl as #7.

Or I guess trade Holl too and have big time cap space at the deadline.

I dunno I think it's gonna be tough to get our 6 D deserved TOI in the first place, so an injury bumping up the regulars' minutes while Benn pinches in 10mpg as a fill in seems fine to me.

of course i'm a fan of both Kokkonen and Villeneuve too.

They should trade Kerf and Holl in a package for something good. Neither justifies being a salary/cap dump.

Trade them to a contender in the west for a promising young player.

Also, and of extreme importance. Holl isn't soft, small, and shit.

Think I'm with you here and I'd love to sign Milano still.

There's definitely more stuff brewing.

I think there's more a likelihood that a guy like Milano is waiting for a team to make room for a reasonable salary than a guy like Kadri who might be holding out for someone to finally meet his number.

D is deep(defensively) so long as Muzzin and Brodie don't decline and don't get injured for any length of time. There is nobody to replace the heavy matchup minutes those two will be getting this season. But as long as they're playing those roles at the level they have been, the supporting cast is strong and nobody is playing more than they should be.

Yeah we legit have the deepest dcorps in hockey.

The only weakness is that Rielly is more of a mid to low end #1 and not a Norris type.

And I guess that there are some age concerns with the current #2/3/4 guys.
