They don't have choice. And don't get me wrong, he wont come cheap, I just mean that based on what he could be, the price will be lower than if he was currently playing to his capabilities.
nor that 5.5 million is buying low
he had one good year and 3 bad ones, are you certain the good one is his capability and not the three bad ones?

I just mean that Myers has not been playing well. Cant get max value when a player is struggling.
Myers is the kinda guy I'd love to take a chance on. He's had some rough years but the potential is huge.

I'd certainly look at taking a chance on Myers. Kinda like the Leafs took a certain chance on Phaneuf (or, a team wanting to dump a guy who makes too much for what they want.
We'd have to dump Markov to make it work, but I'd be fine dealing Markov out west for a prospect and a pick, and then offering Buffalo something like Tinordi for Myers (or maybe Tinordi + Briere or Bourque for Myers, to even out the salaries a bit).

Um, Phaneuf was not looking like a bust when the Leafs picked him up.
You would argue he is more like Joff who was not looking good when Leafs got him. Phaneuf was a star when the Leafs got him.
I know this much, if we got Myers, within 2 weeks some would be lamenting being stuck with his contract.

People were really down on him when we got him. We had many, many Flames fans arguing they won that deal and White alone was way better.

his main priorities is to get value for Ott , Miller and Maulson , Myers isnt a priority move
Tinordi and a first plus a mid level prospect and whatever is needed for cap fillers wont be enough
Dion was a salary dump , good player but overated . The Flames wanted to keep Giordano and they werent going to pay both of them
his new extension with the Leafs was an overpayment but he had the Leafs by the nuts and his agent played it to perfection .

I would never pay that price for Myers. I would rather see a move for Ott. He could of been had a few years ago when the Stars were looking to unload him. Perfect guy to play against Lucic. I wonder what his pricetag could be....

At the time of Rivet trade it wasn't really a "fleece."
It turned into one over time because of Max. Gorges is an Internet legend.
