The Athletic put out an article about upcoming free agents coming out of the CHL, college, Europe today. One guy that caught my eye as a potential signing was the goalie out of Maine, Victor Ostman. The Canes are definitely in need of goalie depth and this guy sounds like he’d be a great add.
What’s his story? He is never mentioned as a top prospect. Is his skating poor? Is he a small guy? Poor hockey sense? He’s a point a game player, even as a freshman.
I was stuck with the NESN broadcast when the Canes played Boston and thought he was terrible. A lot of dead air, incomplete sentences, and just overall incompetent coverage. I do remember him with ESPN and he wasn’t that bad. He’s definitely hasn’t aged well.
